Large drawings using pencil and charcoal use to-ing and fro-ing movement across the pages surface in tune with breathing. As a lover of Tai Chi, I use it when drawing on a large scale. When looking at these drawings, visual rhythm, spirals and pulses appear and disappear as one moves closer or further away. Some drawings are after Welsh textile blankets I’ve seen or own. The double processes of looking and thinking about an art object, whether a drawing or sculpture, for me is fascinating.
